THE LAST WEEKEND IN JANUARY 2021

BEAUDESERT SHOOTERS DID IT ALL!

SATURDAY MORNING

It was another great day for Sporter/Hunter at Beaudesert with 24 hopefuls making for some great competition on Saturday 30th January!

Sporter / Hunter class is on every second Saturday morning – the next shoot is 13th February!

Sporter/Hunter Disciplines

Introduction:

Designed to allow standard shop bought sporting type rifles to be used on NRAA rifle ranges. The prime purpose for its introduction is to encourage participation, rather than competition and to foster membership. Any rifle bought as a standard factory-made practical walk around sporting/hunting/varmint rifle and without the features or attachments that would place it in the style of a target, match or service rifle maybe used as long as they comply with the rules.

SATURDAY NIGHT - A NIGHT SHOOT

We held our 1st night shoot in a very long time. 300 yards under lights was the experiment.

Targets were lit up, Gazebo’s illuminated and 10 eager and excited shooters was all volunteered to test the waters.

Big shout out to range Fairies that tested and fine tuned the lighting, conditions were perfect, and the general comment was, I have never seen the target so clear. Contrary to popular belief, the wind still blows at night at Beaudesert and the mirage (albeit so slight) is still there at 7:30pm. Mosquito to shooter ratio was pretty high, but no where near as bad as Tuesday night when the light test was conducted.

Sadly, lighting was not suited to TR so those of us that shoot TR had to (cough cough) go to plan B and dust off a scope.

General consensus was a success and we should continue with the concept.

STATE F CLASS TRIALS

F Class team trials have started at Belmont Shooting Complex with shooters from juniors to veterans trying their best to fulfil the dream of representing their state later in 2021. It’s a tough gig!

They will be put through numerous shoots before the teams are selected. Good luck to our Beauy stars: Peter B, Nikki B, and Henk D.

We wish them luck over coming weeks. You’re all champions!

SUNDAY

Who comes shooting on a Sunday at Beaudesert Rifle Club? Well, there’s young, there’s ‘more mature’ and there’s everyone in between!

What’s the common thread? There’s a comical gene for those wayward shots (or days you’d like to forget), there’s a sense of belonging… there’s a little competition… there’s someone ready to ‘rib’ you for that shot where it seems you got it so very wrong. Yup, it’s family.

Today we were at the 500 yard mound being broiled slowly in the humidity – we had the clouds roll over and a sudden downpour – we had the sun come back out… and we had a lot of fun.

Why not come out to a shoot and find out what’s great. Be part of a great sport and have a lot of fun learning. BTW, we never stop learning so it looks like we’ll be having a lot more fun!
